I've been in Miami since last Friday... I had forgotten just how scorching hot it can feel! But it sure beats the seven months of winter we have back home. I'll take sunshine and heat over snow ANY TIME.

I cannot get enough pictures of my garden! Does that happen to you? I can step outside my door several times each day, and every single time I will spot a new bloom that I want to capture with my camera. The camera has become as somewhat permanent fixture around my neck. Will I ever tire?
The roses seem to open right before my very eyes.... some of my favorite "shrubs" are so tall that I can't reach the top blooms! (I am positive these are not climbers!) My husband is convinced it's our great soil (I just learned that our property used to be part of a dairy farm 70 years ago) and all the worms...
.... I love the look of the hot pink roses against the rustic arbor....

Another favorite are these soft peachy pink roses.... an everblooming shrub (the only flowering plant I "inherited" when we purchased our home...)
...they remind me of Victoria magazine photos from the old days....

My peonies are finally blooming! This morning, still wearing my PJ's, I toured my garden (the morning dew touching my bare toes) and smelled their delicate fragrance...
I cut an armful of blooms and arranged them throughout the house... a single, beautiful white one now sits next to my angel.
...and a big armful in my $3 garage sale find (from one of my neighbors!) white pitcher...

Another fun swap I recently participated in was the Altered Paper Whimsy Pocket Swap, hosted by Tee. This was another new concept for me - making a wee "pocket" using a paper towel roll. It was quick (instant gratification!) and fun!
This is the pocket my partner Jean made for me. She and I knew nothing about each other; but she certainly learned my "style" very quickly!
Lots of pretty fabrics, laces, ribbons.... a lovely pink tinged flower...
and look at the other lovely gifts she included! Thank you, Jean, for my beautiful little pocket!
My pocket for Jean was a a feminine, romantic gypsy girl.
When I look at these photos, I realize that our pockets are "related." Their style, materials used and overall theme are very similar. Both of us even had a message to shared "Soar" from Jean, and "remember" from me.

I recently signed up for Karla's Birdsong tag book swap and can't wait to get started!
Karla is a fabulous hostess; lots of ideas, graphics, papers, printables.... she always gets a great turnout for her swaps (over 100 this time) and everyone puts together the most amazing tags.
Since our theme is "birdsong" I've been looking through old books, postcards, etc., for some inspiration. I'm waiting for something to reach out and "grab" me... a birdie graphic that will actually "tweet" to me...
(although I like these graphics, the idea of "caged" birds is not what I'm striving for)

Since all of my birdies today are BLUE, I'm sharing them at Smiling Sally's party.
No, I'm not talking about the country (although I've heard that it's very beautiful).
I can't resist a pretty floral pattern... it doesn't matter how old/new it is... where it's made, or what condition it's in. Although I'm partial to Limoges (which I've collected for many years), I'm not a china "snob." If it's pretty and affordable cheap, then it's probably coming home with me.
