Happy Pink Saturday!
I'm proud to be participating this week in Beverly's Pink Saturday and the Miracle Party. We are honoring an amazing, brave woman, Colette Guathier. Stop by and read her story; watch "The Makeover Reveal Video" and share in the outpouring of love from everyone...
Two years ago, our family experienced the reality of cancer for the first time. My beloved father-in-law, Swinton, was diagnosed in July with cancer of the gallbladder, and by Election Day (night), he was gone. We had barely begun to recover from this loss, when his high-school sweetheart and wife of over 53 years, Anita, was diagnosed with cancer as well (almost a year to the date). Anita has undergone a full year of treatments (radiation therapy, chemo) and has been the bravest, strongest woman you could imagine. She decided she would not cave in to Mr. Cancer, she would fight for her life... she wants to see her granddaughter graduate from college next summer, her grandson get married next Spring.... and yet, we recently received news that the cancer had spread. So we pray, we hope, we cry, we love, we support each other.
My husband, Steven, and I have been in Philadelphia visiting Anita this week. She is a lover of everything beautiful, a crafter, an amazing cook, a gifted decorater..... she accumulated an enormous stash of "things" to create with... she could seriously compete with any craft store! So today I'd like to share some of the pretty pink things I've discovered in her stash of supplies....
../ beautiful vintage pin....lots of silk ribbons (Anita does amazing ribbon embroidery)... pinkish velvet leaves....
... sweet clusters of tiny flowers (these are from the 1950's) and a little trinket box...
... tons of ribbon! They are on spools, reels, bobbins, pinned, bagged! Every color of the rainbow... but mostly, pinks (soft pinks are Anita's favorite)...
... a partially finished (or barely started) project.... those sweet vintage flowers again...
I am so excited to be carting some of Anita's stash back home to Minnesota... can't wait to start creating something beautiful with them! Thank you, dear mother-in-law, for being such an inspiration.
Hi,
So sorry I'm so late with this post! I love all your pink. Thank you for stopping by my blog. Hugs, LizlovesVintage

There truly are miracles going on all around us every day. We just have to open our hearts in acceptance.
Thank you for sharing your dear Anita with us. Please tell her she is an inspiration, and I will keep you all in my prayers.

We've been touched by cancer here as well. Seems like there's no escaping it, but attitude is all, and lots of prayer too of course. I hope you will continue to help your MIL fight, and that she will recover. Her vintage ribbons and flowers are a lovely reminder of a more gentle time! Thanks for sharing them with us today as we honor Colette.
XO
