What is it about the color pink that makes us smile inside? Do you know what I mean? Whenever I'm out, and see a window display, or an antiques booth, brimming with pinks of all shades I just feel.... happy. Loved. Like everything in the world is okay. This feeling lasts for just a brief moment, but I can always rely on it.
As many of you know, we have been in Philadelphia for a week now, at my mother-in-law Bebe's bedside. The family is here to share these last few weeks, days, moments of her life with her.
I've been browsing through Bebe's extensive collection of books on crafting, ribbon embroidery, decorating, decoupaging, cooking. You name any craft that's been popular in the last 25 years and she's got a book on it! I could spend days just going through them!

...this books is one of Bebe's favorites...many of its pages are tabbed; several of the projects she has completed over the years.
... isn't this hat gorgeous?? (photo from "Heirloom Ribbonwork" by Helen Gibb, 2001)
... breathtaking ribbon embroidery on this beret! (pic from "The Splendor of Ribbon" by Ellie Schneider, 1997)
AND
from "Flowercrafts" by Deena Beverley (1997), this recipe for
INFUSED FLOWER OIL
Gather: fragrant flowers, sterile glass jar (with stopper), cold-pressed sunflower oil, sieve
1. Remove the petals from the flowers and pack as many as possible into the sterile glass jar.
2. Pour in enough oil to cover the petals and replace the stopper. Let the jar sit outside in the sun for a few weeks, bringing it indoors at night. Strain through a sieve and discard the flowers.
ENJOY YOUR INFUSED FLOWER OIL...
Warm hugs to Beverly at How Sweet the Sound,
I'm linking up to her Pink Saturday.
Beautiful post, Mercedes. I'm sorry to hear that your beloved Bebe is not well. How special that her family is there with her during this time. My thoughts and prayers are with each of you. ~ Sarah

I'm a day late but wanted to stop by and see your pink lovelies. I see that you chose to share your MIL Bebe's things with us and that makes them even more special. I'm sure she is pleased. My mother only had 3 weeks per the doctor so since she had a sitter my brother and I went home to plan out a schedule, the sitter left and we did not know that. She passed alone a few hours after we left and it is a very hard cross to bear. I'm glad you are there.

I am so sorry about your Bebe and I know she loves that you all are there. She sure does have some beautiful books. I have always loved ribbon embroidery. It's just gorgeous, just like that hat! A friend recently gave me a muslin bag decorated with ribbon embroidery. They say everything old is new again. That's for sure. Come for a visit when you can. Happy Pink Saturday
