I've been absent from posting for a while... too much going on~!
I was so far behind on swaps and projects, plus my Etsy shoppe has been fairly busy with some custom cufflet orders. That, coupled with a handicapped hand (much better now!), wedding projects and getting ready for the holidays (lots of out-of-town family coming in) - it seems like there aren't enough hours in the day!
Oh, and let's not forget the old "j.o.b." (those little kindergarteners sure wear me out!).
I'm not complaining; I love staying busy! Just wishin' they days were just a tad longer...
Today I felt like posting some pretty things.
It seems like many of my recent projects have included roses (why am I surprised?!?)... lots of pink ones. I never tire of them.
(I'm actually considering decorating one of my Christmas trees with a rose theme this year.... we'll see if that idea comes to fruition)
In the Marie Antoinette Mail Art Group, we celebrated Marie's birthday the entire month of October (leading up to her actual birthdate, which was November 3rd). There were so many fun activities, giveways and swaps that it was hard to resist signing up for all!
One swap I did join required that we create a "cakebox" to hold a slice a Marie's birthday cake. The inspiration for my cakebox was the sweet, flowery confections I saw in the French patisserie windows when I visited Paris in Spring 2010.
I remember standing in front of them for long periods of time; taking in all the beautiful delicacies and wondering how anyone could bite into something so gorgeous! They were truly works of art.
(the above images are not from France... but from gifted American confectioners.)
My version has a spray of cascading roses ...
Another MAMA swap had us making a cake topper for Marie's cake.
I knew I wanted to use roses again, so off I went to look for some inspiration.
My version was in pink/black/white and sat on a glass pedestal... pearls, crystals and of course, lots of roses!
As you can see, Marie had quite the birthday celebration!
And I had a wonderful time making her birthday confections!
Thanks for visiting and have a great Thanksgiving week.
Mercedes, your Marie birthday creations are gorgeous!
